2018 Rising Star Awardees

In 2016, the NORDP Board of Directors established the Rising Star Award to recognize up to three members annually who have made outstanding volunteer contributions to NORDP. Awardees are announced at the NORDP annual conference, presented with an etched glass plaque, and receive free registration for the following year’s annual conference.

The 2018 Rising Star awardees are Nathan Meier, Christina Papke, and Kayla Tindle.

NATHAN MEIER, UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA- LINCOLN

Since 2011, Nathan has been actively engaged in advancing NORDP through his service as a NORDP Mentor and member of the 7th Annual Conference Planning Committee and Conference Marketing Subcommittee.  For the latter, it was Nathan who proposed, developed, and launched the engaging “Conference Cameo” series, now a regular pre-conference marketing feature.  He has presented sessions at the last 4 NORDP Conferences, hosted a table at the 2017 “Leadership Transitions Dinner”, and has served during the past two years as a member and, most recently as chair, of the NORDP Board of Directors Nominating Committee.

CHRISTINA PAPKE, TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY

Christina joined NORDP in 2015.  Since then she has served on the Southwest Regional Planning Committee and became co-chair of NORDP’s Mentoring Committee in 2017.  Her service to the latter is legion: facilitating mentor/mentee pairs; writing “spotlights” to promote the program; co-hosting an Annual Conference networking dinner; and developing training materials and webinars to help mentors and mentees during their onboarding.  Christina’s organizational abilities, strategic thinking, and skill in engaging Committee members and the mentoring classes have been a major force in growing NORDP’s Mentoring Program.

KAYLA (KAY) TINDLE, TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY

Kay began her service to NORDP in 2014 as our liaison to the FDP. From 2015-17, she was the Southwest Region Representative to NORDP’s Member Services Committee (MSC), becoming co-chair in 2016 and acting chair in 2017.  As such, Kay managed all meeting logistics, agendas and minutes, and the MSC Dropbox; supported all Regional Reps’ new-NORDP-member communications; helped propel the new-member recruitment campaign; delivered MSC’s report at the 2017 Annual Conference Business Meeting; and presided over the 2017 Conference MSC meeting.  During NORDP’s 10 months without an association management firm, Kay answered NORDP’s official email and phone inquiries, registered listserv subscribers, assisted our Treasurer with invoice/payment issues, and worked with MemberClicks to resolve operational issues.
